Instagram Is Using Kanye West Songs To Stop Cyberbullying

Instagram is cracking down on cyberbullying and abusive comments one Kanye West lyric at a time.

The social media app's CEO, Kevin Systrom, revealed that his company is using a tactic called DeepText, which detects explicit and inappropriate language. Instagram HQ is now using this procedure to recognize offensive comments under posts uploaded by its users.

“Every line in this sequence got banned when it was put through: ['Famous' lyric] 'For my southside n**gas that know me best/ I feel like me and Taylor still might have sex/ Why, I made that b**ch famous,'” Wired journalist Nicholas Thompson writes. “It was entirely at ease, however, with more creative Kanye insults like ['Wolves' lyric] ‘You left your fridge open/ somebody just took a sandwich.'”

Wired also says that the infamous Kim Kardashian/Swift feud in 2016 inspired a new filter. After Kardashian revealed some unknown information about Swift's alleged reaction to the first time she heard West's "Famous" single, Swift's IG comments were flooded with snakes. This made Instagram create a filter that can be used to block specific words and emojis completely.
