Use this link:  oaklandcountymoms.com/free-summer-fun-for-kids for a TON of info on fee stuff for kids to do.  You can also find instructions for DIY Slip and Slide: make-your-own-slip-and-slide  These moms are amazing and the site is easy to navigate.

GEOCACHING! Geocaching is the real-world treasure hunt that's happening right now, all around you. There are 2,461,941 active geocaches and over 6 million geocachers worldwide… and it’s free to play.  Chances are there are ten or more geocaches within 2 miles of your home… IF you can find them.  We have friends and family that do geocaching and they have a ton of fun doing it. Cranbrook House and Gardens Located in Bloomfield Hills, Cranbrook Gardens is one of the most beautiful and historic areas of the Greater Metro Detroit area. You can explore for free or self-guided tour. Kids under 5 are FREE… adults $6. Open most days from 11a-5p. More info: http://housegardens.cranbrook.edu/

The Detroit Historical Museum

The Detroit Historical Museum is located in Detroit’s Cultural Center on Woodward Avenue. Admission is free. Parking is $6 in the adjacent Museum lot on Kirby, while available. Belle Isle Brief overview of Belle Isle: In February of 2014, Belle Isle became a state park. One of the first changes Detroit residents and others will see is an $11 annual fee, which allows entry into all state parks.  The fee will be gradually phased in during the first year of state management of Belle Isle. Individuals who walk, bike or jog to the island are FREE from the fee.  Most of the park's attractions are also free.  More info: RecreationDepartment/BelleIsle  There is WAY MORE to do on Belle Isle than you may realize.  Here are some highlights:

Belle Isle Aquarium
Belle Isle Aquarium is open every Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free admission and parking.

Dossin Great Lakes Museum Located on Strand Drive on Belle Isle, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum is dedicated to showcasing the story of the Great Lakes, with a special emphasis on Detroit’s role in regional and national maritime history. Admission is FREE. Open Saturdays and Sundays 11a-4p plus Fridays through the summer.  More info: detroithistorical.org/dossin-great-lakes-museum

Kid's Kingdom Playscape
Calling all Kids! Come play on the newly renovated playscape that assures safety standards and accessible play equipment for the physically challenged.

The Belle Isle Beach The Belle Isle Beach is a half-mile long swimming area and is the only public beach in Detroit. The Water Slide is located next to the beach; both are open from the second week in June through Labor Day. There is a $3 charge for an all day pass to ride the Water Slide.
