Noor Shaman, the wife of Orlando nightclub killer Omar Mateen, was taken into custody by FBI agents at her home near San Francisco Monday day on an obstruction of justice charge, reports The New York Times. (Meanwhile, ABC says she was arrested for aiding and abetting.) She’s due to appear in federal court in San Francisco today before being extradited to Tampa, Florida. Mateen shot and killed 49 people at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub on June 12, 2016, marking the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, one which both terrified and galvanized the LGBT community. (Pulse was a well-known gay hangout.) As The New York Daily News notes, Shaman—who’s denied knowing what Mateen’s plans were before he went on his rampage—recently filed to have her young son’s name changed so he wouldn’t share his late father’s surname.
