Tears, Joy & Thankfulness For 6-Yr Old Patient Who's Well Enough To Go Home

We want to share a story about a little 6-yr old boy named Adriano, he goes by the name of Nano. When he’s feeling good, he wears a large sombrero with festive gold beading and enjoys singing mariachi tunes...

Nano was born with a rare genetic condition that leaves him needing blood transfusions and just recently, he needed a bone marrow transplant. It didn’t go easy for him as he went through countless stays at CHLA. He became a regular patient and started music therapy. He loved performing bedside for his nurses.

As you might expect, on the day Nano went home from the hospital, there was plenty of song and celebration. For the occasion, he wore his best mariachi suit and a bright, camel-gold sombrero. He approached the bell that patients get to ring when they’re well enough to go home. The plaque reads:

Ring this bell
Three times well
It’s ring will clearly say
My treatment is done
This course has run
And I am on my way!

2020 has been a tough year but please remember there is always something to be thankful for. Nano is so thankful for CHLA and the quality care he received and this is why we want to help CHLA every chance we get. Check him out on our blog and see his cute mariachi outfit and please join us a week from today, on Giving Tuesday when we dedicate our show and give back to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
