Raju the elephant was released to freedom after being held in chains and beaten and abused for 50 years.
He was left bleeding from spiked shackles and forced to beg passing tourists for food. He's lived off of plastic and paper pamphlets his whole life.
The North London charity Wildlife SOS traveled to India to free Raju.
The were astounded to see tears roll down his face during the rescue.
The rescue came a year to the day since the charity was alerted of the situation. The confiscation process did go through the courts and since Raju's owner didn't have any legal documents for his possessions, the charity could rescue him from suffering.
Raju is safe now and will live a much happier life.
