Mrs. Cook, an amazing second grade teacher has persevered and been an amazing example of excellence to her class while her husband was dying of cancer. Right after Thanksgiving, he passed away. While on bereavement leave, she insisted on grading papers, coming in on the weekend to leave the children notes. She returned this week to be sure she could participate in the holiday festivities with the children and to love them even as she grieves. She takes time to write comments about the sentences the second graders write on their assignments instead of just putting a check mark on the paper.
