They're part of the family so you may think to share a few things off the table so they can join in on the Thanksgiving celebration but some of those foods may actually be toxic to our pets!
The American Kennel Club says that pets can have turkey and pork if they're given to them "plain" but certain seasonings can make our furry friends sick. Did you know that nutmeg, onion power and garlic poweder are highly toxic to dogs? Sometimes salt and fatty foods can make them sick too.
Also, never give your dog chocolate, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, onions or any foods that have the artificial sweetener xylitol, which is found in diet or low-calorie foods. These are toxic too!
When we want our cat, Sonya, to enjoy a special meal (on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or her birthday for example) we treat her to this stuff by Fancy Feast even though her daily food is made by Blue Buffalo. She goes NUTS for it :-)
