BTS Just Live-Premiered Their All-English Single 'Dynamite' At The VMAs

The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards were full of plenty of firsts, including the world premiere performance of BTS' all-English single, "Dynamite," from some of the most famed places in the Big Apple.

On Sunday (August 30), RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jungkook took to the ceremony, which was taped in various locations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and unleashed the high-energy rendition with slick outfits, fast-paced choreography and the feel-good spirit of the all-English track. Whether they were in Dumbo afront the Brooklyn Bridge or in Times Square through green screen, of course, the septet showed off their fancy footwork in front of a number of New York City hot stops for the live premiere of the disco-inspired dance track.

While BTS looked confident singing the upbeat track in English, the boy band recently admitted that the track prompted them to step outside of their comfort zone. "It was more not hard, but interesting. It was an interesting kind of challenge," Jungkook admitted to USA Today, while RM described the session as "fun hard." Prior to the big VMA performance, Bit Hit Entertainment shared a number of photos of their rehearsal room, where the group was seen rocking some casual outfits to stretch and practice their routine.

In addition to performance duties, BTS was also nominated (and won) the Best Group honor, beating out the likes of Monsta X, BLACKPINK, Little Mix and more. "Shout out to Army and MTV Video Music Awards for two years in row," Jimin said in the group's pre-taped acceptance speech. They also scored nominations for Best Pop, Best K-Pop, and Best Choreography.

Despite social distancing protocol, BTS have a busy few months ahead of them with plans for their Break the Silence: The Movie on September 10 and their first concert since postponing their "Map of the Soul World Tour." The latter will take place in-person in South Korea and be available to stream October 11 and 12.
